Cycle tour day 20

I think that was the most climbing I have ever done in a single day, and that’s saying something since we only went forty kilometres! Basically the whole day was on an uphill gradient. We started from the base of the valley where are campsite was. Over the remarkably short distance we traveled, we ended up setting up camp today on top of a mountain. More of a highlands kind of area. Still an incredible ascent. The views up here are astounding. Sweden may have nice forests but they have nothing on the Norwegian mountains.

It didn’t help that we had to stock up on supplies today. We are not sure how often we will come across more supermarkets, but we camped near the town Alta where there were a few. Unfortunately, today was Sunday and the only supermarket open had only a tiny zone of it’s massive footprint permitted for Sunday shopping. They had a massive garage door closing off the rest of the supermarket to us, leaving only a small area open.

Despite this, we still managed to fill our bikes up with a few days of supplies. Heavy, heavy supplies. I hate hills so much sometimes.
