It was open so we went inside. After passing the massive blast door we walked through a bit of everything; a kitchen, bathrooms, living quarters, a bar, a theater, a shooting range, a bowling alley and a whole bunch of old equipment.
It looks like it might have been a Cold War era bunker refurbished into some kind of activity space? A bunch of the equipment looked really old but some areas seemed to have been added in later like the bar.
We found a folder on a table labelled ‘teambuilding’ from 2004 and a discarded magazine from 2014.
Despite how recent that was, some areas seemed to be in a bad state of disrepair. The roof in the living area for example had started to collapse. We were under no illusions of safety and made sure to disturb and touch as little as possible.
It was quite an adventure to explore! It’s amazing what you can randomly come across in the forest.
Today was really hard though, our route was made up of never ending mountains of gravel.
That much climbing on gravel limits your speed a lot and you have to take descents much slower too. We didn’t make as much progress as we wanted today, but we found a nice place to camp so that helps.
